Dreaming of a Better Way to Live

Write stuff here.

It has been a dream of Aaron's for at least a few years to form an intentional community.  Guiding principles for such a community would be democracy, equity, and trust.

A book given to Aaron by his older brother called Walden Two was a big motivator which sent Aaron on the path towards Intentional Community.  Although many of the details in that book are not ideal there are a few concepts from the book which are very powerful.

Ideas from Walden Two that aaron finds very interesting are:

  • Each member of the community must get at least 25% of their work credits earned through physical labor.

  • Each member of the community is only required to work 4 hours a day 6 days a week.

Many of my ideas about the benefits of community have been shown to me by two great practitioners of community building Sara and Claire Moore who own the Pink House Studio in Riverwest.  Pink House is a center for the social healing arts.  Please visit their website and view their calendar for a list of offerings.

The international organization for intentional communities can be found at ic.org
